Anti-Aging Night Cream

This anti-aging night cream is beyond amazing. I recently thought I was out. It usually takes me a month or two to get around to making more when I run out. So I was using my anti-aging serum and cleansing balm and feeling pretty good about my face. Then, while cleaning out my fridge, I found a jar of night cream. I used it one time and started getting compliments on how good my skin looked. It works that fast!

It is so effective due to the high amount of hyaluronic acid combined with amazing oils. It softens and plumps the skin instantly. It is now winter and I didn't realized how thirsty my skin was for something so moisturizing.

This recipe is a little bit advanced but still pretty simple. There are a lot of ingredients but trust me, it will be worth it. I always have several people on a list waiting for me to make my next batch. Keep in mind that you can substitute the jojoba and borage oil with other oils such as argan, sweet almond, apricot, sunflower, olive or grapeseed oil.

4 TBS coconut oil

4 TBS shea butter

3 TBS jojoba oil

1 TBS borage oil

1 1/2 TBS emulsifying wax

1 TBS stearic acid

1/4 TBS liquid lecithin

1/2 tsp borax

1/2 tsp xanthan gum

6 TBS aloe vera gel (from Mountain Rose Herbs)

1/2 cup distilled or purified water

3 TBS glycerin

1 1/2 tsp SLMW hyaluronic acid (from Lotioncrafter)

1/4 tsp citric acid

1 tsp Vitamin E

1 tsp Rosemary Antioxidant

1/2 TBS green tea extract (optional)

Your favorite essential oils, I prefer geranium, lavender, helichrysum, palmarosa or tea tree.

Melt coconut oil, shea butter, emulsifying wax, stearic acid and liquid lecithin in a double boiler. I put a glass pyrex measuring cup in a pan of water and turn the heat on low. After they are melted add the jojoba and borage seed oils and stir. Turn off heat and leave on stove.

Heat the water to almost boiling. Stir in borax, citric acid and xanthan gum. Set aside. Stir the hyaluronic acid powder into the glycerin and set aside. Measure the aloe vera and set aside.

Pour the oil mixture into the blender. Blend slowly. While it is blending slowly pour in the water, then the aloe vera, then the glycerin-hyaluronic acid mixture. The blender does not need to remaining blending the entire time.

After blending in the hyaluronic acid, there should be some bubbles in the mixture.

At this point the mixture should be emulsified, warm and a little runny. If it is separated, it is probably too hot. Give it half an hour to cool and then blend again.

Add the remaining ingredients and blend. Add as many essential oils for desired smell. Do not add oils that may burn or irritate the skin such as peppermint, clove or sitrus oils.

Pour quickly into jars as this anti-aging night cream thickens quickly and will become difficult to pour.
